How does gender impact on personal life balance

How does gender impact on personal life balance?

Personal-life balance is becoming a hot-button topic. The role of gender and the difficulties of balancing paid labor with household responsibilities. In spite of this, gender has been deemed a crucial variable by the socially built image of female homemakers
(Irawanto et al., 2021). With the right amount of work and leisure time, you'll be more productive and less prone to burnout. This delicate art of juggling needs meticulous forethought and preparation, but it is doable. Gender can consider as main effective factor for life balance. Females have to do more works in their personal life and family than males (Burke et al., 2004).

Women's lives have seen radical shifts throughout the course of history. She has made such a dramatic shift in her life that she is now as educated and financially secure as her husband (Muna and Mansour, 2009). But in our Sri Lankan culture, women still cook, wash, and maintain the house, and their primary function is as a mother and caretaker. A lot of women are having a hard time managing their careers and families.

Learned gender roles (e.g., father, housekeeper, provider) significantly dictate the sort of job men and women undertake, according to Mata Greenwood (2001). "For example, because of their traditional position as homemakers, female employees are more likely than male workers to mix economic and non-economic activities, to work sporadically throughout the year, and to work closer to home." A further area of gender distinction, she believes, arises in the distribution of resources and rewards among family members, establishing their various requirements and restrictions. As a result, female labor market involvement is heavily reliant on their marital status, as well as whether or not women have young children or are responsible for other members of their families (Mata Greenwood, 2001).

Conclusion
In conclusion, gender directly impacting to personal life balance. Specially, females have higher responsibilities than males during their personal life as shown in the above.

  5. Dear Asitha it is one of the hardest things that most employees face in the modern day. Companies should focus more on the work life balance of its employees specially amidst the pandemic. Much more flexible work environments should be formulated by considering all the aspects of employees as well as organizations. Back office functions could be remotely done and I personally think facilitation of remote work or hybrid work environment would be very beneficial.

If women gain a success work life balance ,she has become more productive and committed person in her career. But unfortunately,in South Asian countries women suffer from many issues and not be able to succeed due to incapability in her work and personal life.Because of the South Asian thinking pattern and culture women solely responsible for taking care of children, aged parents and other family pressures. What many men do not accept is that she can live more successful life if her husband accept half of her responsibilities. With the globalization and development of education and revolution in industrial sector there has been a little change in sharing responsibilities. But both partners should schedule their working hours and personal hours ,so they can be more successful and women will be able to use their education to serve their families and the country and maintain her dignity.
