Factors affecting Work life balance

Factors affecting Work life balance

Maintaining a healthy balance between your professional and personal lives is referred to as work-life balance. Work-life balance isn't always characterized as a 50/50 split of working and resting time. The balance is more complicated than that, and it differs from one individual to the next (Boiarintseva et al., 2021).

This helps to boost office productivity since the employee is less concerned about his personal obligations. It also allows the employee to spend quality time with his or her family during holidays, vacations, and free time while also improving his or her health. As a result,
workers need to be able to combine their professional and personal lives, which boosts their enthusiasm to work for the firm (Irfan et al., 2021).

Advantages

v  Productivity has increased.

v  illness absences and absenteeism are reduced.

v  workforce that is more content and less worried.

v Feeling appreciated and that their personal and/or family lives are significant to the organization.

v employees' mental health and well-being improves as a result.

Environment

Employee morale, productivity, and engagement can be positively or adversely influenced by the office environment. In most industries, the work environment is dangerous and hazardous. Unsuitable office furniture, inadequate ventilation, a lack of lighting that is too bright and a lack of personal protective equipment are only some of the issues that need to be addressed (Bourne et al., 2009).

Financial Reimbursement

Employees enjoy a better work environment when they get monetary and non-monetary incentives. Employees become more invested in their job when they receive a raise in pay. Workers are less inclined to go above and beyond the job requirements unless the organization provides an extrinsic motivator (in the form of superior financial benefit). Good remuneration leads to greater work satisfaction as well as a greater desire to help the organization achieve its goals.

Work-home conflicts

Workplace and home conflicts impact to person work life balance. Because it impacts to mental and emotional level. Conflicts make stress and it cause employee work life balance.

Job Satisfaction

Improved work-life balance is a result of increased job satisfaction. Good work is more likely to be produced by an individual who is happy in his or her job. Dissatisfaction at work is linked to a decrease in employee engagement and an increase in the likelihood of employee turnover (Bourne et al., 2009).

Strategies to improve work life balance

  • v  Flexibility in working hours, especially seasonal hours, is  required.
  • v  Allowing employees to work from home is a good idea.
  • v  Lunch timings that are less restrictive.
  • v  Provide computers and other devices to allow employees to work from any location.
  • v  Create a comfortable working environment at your office.
  • v  Encourage participation in social activities.
  • v  Exercises for forming a team.
